Shadowfax is located in Werribee, halfway between Melbourne and Geelong and is run by New Zealander Matt Harrop, a Roseworthy graduate with previous winemaking experience at Nautilus in Marlborough and Brokenwood in Hunter Valley. Aside from his own vineyards, Matt sources his grapes from cool climate regions across Victoria including Geelong, Heathcote and the Macedon Ranges. Matt’s philosophy is to produce wines that express the vineyard they come from. He places importance on careful site selection, water management and a strict policy of low yields to ensure that every wine has a clear identity.
Shadowfax are one of the pioneers of the cool climate, restrained style of Chardonnay that has become so de rigueur now.
